Amiga JU 52 Flight Simulator, A Lost Realism Gem in The Roof

Posted on July 4, 2026 by Rumblefish

Forget stripped-down arcade flying — this unreleased simulation by Rainer Bopf puts you in the cockpit of the legendary Tante Ju with an uncompromising eye for authenticity.

The ungainly tri-motor corrugated metal giant feels weighty, slow, and utterly convincing. Engine management, trim, and the unique handling of that three-engine configuration are all modelled with a dedication rarely seen in the Amiga’s library. The sense of clattering along in a lumbering transport is palpable.

One absolute, non-negotiable rule before you even start: read the Keycodes file. The keyboard layout is essential, and without it you’ll never coax the old lady off the grass strip. Once you’ve mapped the controls, the satisfaction of a properly executed take-off, throttle, tail wheel lift, gentle rotation, is immense. Bopf never released this officially, but he entrusted it to the community, and it deserves to be preserved as a fanatical piece of historical av-sim craft. For realism buffs, it’s an underground masterpiece.

This game was never fully completed, hence the author Rainer Bopf has released it as freeware.
