As written by the author, Amiga E.D.F. スペシャル” is a concept test inspired by the game E.D.F. from the SNES and the arcade, that’s why, in our opinion, it owns something more from the original.
Briefly I remind the story of “Super E.D.F.: Earth Defense Force” for the SNES and arcade: it involves an evil organization named AGYMA, which threatens the 200 years of peace the galaxy has enjoyed. From their base on the far side of the moon, they have infiltrated many important locations on Earth. The player, working for the Earth Defense Force, assumes the role of the lone pilot of a special craft designed to fight off AGYMA: the XA-1. The game’s narrative centers around the player’s mission to combat AGYMA and their forces to protect Earth and maintain peace in the galaxy.
The game was released for the Super Nintendo in October 1991 and has been recognized as a notable space shoot ’em up video game.
Amiga E.D.F. is not a port or a clone of it but such an inspired game based on same original concepts, and coded using Red Pill software.
The game features 32 colors with AGA characteristics, 020/14 MHz, 25 FPS, CD32 audio-tracks, 5 levels of scroll parallax, and optimizations for speed and performance under 020/14 MHz. It also includes a CD32 emulator so that any Amiga AGA with FastMem can run it (requires a CD/DVD drive though).
Amiga’s EDF is currently at version 0.04 alpha and it is available for download.
Remember, if you have been a fan of the game do not forget to donate for further development.
At last not least we agree with the Author’s Warning Message against some halfwit existences :D
