Deflektor is a puzzle game available on Commodore 64 and Amiga. The objective of the game is to direct a laser beam towards a receiver using mirrors.
Commodore 64 Version
The C64 edition shines with smooth 60fps gameplay, precise controls for mirror placement, and 60 progressively brutal levels that demand foresight amid moving threats. Graphics use bold primary colors and simple animations effectively, while the SID chip delivers a memorable electronic soundtrack that loops hypnotically without grating.
Its 8/10 Lemon64 score reflects addictive depth, though rotation feels fiddly on some screens. No silliness here—just pure cerebral satisfaction for puzzle fans.
Amiga Version
The 1991 port retains the core challenge but upgrades visuals to chunky sprites and smoother scrolling, leveraging Amiga hardware for crisper effects. Sound expands with layered samples, yet retains the C64 charm.
The One magazine’s 3/5 rating (issue 43, Apr 1992) notes competent play but criticizes unpolished presentation versus contemporaries. Still rewarding for retro enthusiasts.
Both versions deliver timeless laser-bending fun, with C64 edging nostalgia value. Ideal for quick sessions or marathon solves.
