The Remakes
Exolon: REDUX – A Modern Take on the 8-Bit Classic
Exolon: REDUX is a contemporary remake of the 8-bit Cecco classic, offering players the opportunity to assume the role of a futuristic soldier navigating five flick-screen levels teeming with alien adversaries, gun emplacements, missiles, landmines, and various other perilous obstacles. Armed with both a gun and rocket-propelled bombs, players must fend off the extraterrestrial threats while maneuvering through the hazardous terrain.
At the midpoint of each level, a pod presents the chance to upgrade to an armored exoskeleton equipped with enhanced weaponry and armor. Notably, completing a level without obtaining this upgrade yields a “bravery bonus,” adding an element of strategic decision-making to the gameplay.
The game has garnered attention for its faithful recreation of the original classic, delivering an immersive and challenging experience that pays homage to its 8-bit predecessor. With its modernized visuals and gameplay mechanics, “Exolon: REDUX” offers both nostalgia for fans of the original and a fresh, engaging experience for new players.
For those eager to delve into this reimagined classic, Exolon: REDUX is available for download on Itch.io, providing an opportunity to embark on a thrilling journey through its action-packed levels and confront the alien adversaries that await.
