>Ghostbusters is a licensed game produced by Activision based on the movie of the same name. It was designed by David Crane, produced by Brad Fregger, and released for several home computer platforms in 1984, and later released for various video game console systems, including the Atari 2600, Sega Master System and NES.
Most versions of the game had a similar basic format to the initial Commodore 64 and Atari 800 game, which Crane wrote in six weeks. He based it in part on an incomplete game called Car Wars featuring armed automobiles in a city; this led, for example, to the “ghost vacuum” on the Ecto-1, something not present in the film. Activision obtained the license early in the film’s production, and most of the game was finished by the time Crane watched the film. While pleased with the game, Crane later stated that he regretted not being able to include a better victory screen. The last week of development was spent on the opening screen which plays the Ghostbusters theme. The game was later ported to the Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and MSX.
The game starts with a choice between 4 drivable cars, and the player must stock up on equipment and make money to complete their objectives. Upon completion of the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Atari 8-bit, Amstrad CPC and MSX versions of the game, a code was provided that allowed the player to start a new game with the amount of money accumulated by the end of the previous game. This allowed accelerated progression in the new game. The game varied in some respects depending upon which platform it was played; the Sega Master System version (1987) added an on-foot shooting gallery level with different animations, while the NES version (1988), ported by Japanese developer Micronics, made the action sequences considerably more difficult, had lower graphical resolution and provided a different ending.
GHOSTBUSTERS REMAKE :
Authors Description :
In case you have never played it, Ghostbusters was the inevitable movie tie in released on the 8 bit machines.
You are given a budget of ten grand to purchase a car and equipment for your new business.
You then proceed to roam ( the perfectly square ) city map looking for haunted buildings.
Once you find one, you are taken to the ghost catching screen where you have to trap the ghost between your particle accelerator beams.
Once you have the little bugger trapped between your mighty pulsating beams, you whack the trap and catch him.
Miss him and you get slimed and a guy taken out of action.
Once the slowly rising PK energy gets to high, you are summoned to Zuul where you must get past the marshmallow man, assuming you have earned more money than you begun with.
The remake features massively updated graphics from the talented Mr Smila.
The music is comprised of 2 mp3 sound tracks supplied by Xentrix and the Evil Scotsman.
I have enhanced the gameplay to make it more fluid, speeding it up where needed.
I also re done the driving section as it was rather pointless before.
Now there is traffic to avoid and money to collect.
You are penalized cash if you hit another car.
We have also added a wee surprise at the end .
Something strange in the neighborhood, who do you call ?? GHOSTBUSTERS. This remake game kinda refresh my childhood memories while watching the cartoon. A very smooth action game with certain objectives to win the game. The game also has equipments and cars to choose from. You started off with some amount of money and have to catch ghost to earn much more. Once you earned enough and the time has come , you will have to face the last king , Gozer. The famous Marshmallow is also being introduced as well. More help is also available on the readme.text. Overall, it is an enjoyable game with original music and characters. A thumbs up for me indeed !!!

Birth :
Activision Inc. is an American video game developer and publisher. It was founded on October 1, 1979.
Nowadays :
On December 2, 2007, it was announced that Activision would merge with Vivendi Games. The merging took place on July 9, 2008, with the newly formed company Activision Blizzard, owned by Vivendi.
History :
-The company was founded by former music industry executive Jim Levy and former Atari programmers David Crane, Larry Kaplan, Alan Miller and Bob Whitehead.
Mediagenic Ruin
-In 1988, Activision started to get involved in other types of software besides video games, such as business applications. As a result, Activision changed its corporate name to Mediagenic in order to have a name that would globally represent all its fields of activities. (Mediagenic is often mistaken to be a company that purchased Activision but in reality it was only Activision with a different name). Despite this change, Mediagenic continued to largely use the Activision brand on its video games of the various platforms it was publishing for, notably the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Sega Master System, the Atari 7800, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and Amiga. The decision of the company to get involved in various fields at the expense of video gaming proved to be a move so bad that in 1992 Mediagenic filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Renaissance
-After emerging from bankruptcy, Mediagenic officially changed its entity name back to Activision in the state of Delaware on December 1992. At that point Activision moved its headquarters from Silicon Valley to Southern California. While emerging from bankruptcy, it continued to develop games for PCs and video game consoles, and resumed making strategic acquisitions. Activision chose from then on to only concentrate on video gaming and nothing else.
