Perihelion: The Prophecy is a role-playing video game developed by Morbid Visions and published by Psygnosis in 1993 for the Amiga. The game is set in a gothic sci-fi universe and features an audacious two-tone palette that oozes atmosphere.
Pros:
– Beautiful graphics that still hold up today
– Excellent style of presentation and user-friendly interface
– Tremendous amount of depth with an excellent number of locations to be explored
– One of Psygnosis’ forgotten Amiga-exclusive gems
Cons:
– The manual was lacking
– Reuse of backgrounds in cities
– Slightly tedious battle system
Perihelion: The Prophecy is an ambitious, gothic sci-fi RPG that is still worth playing today. The game has a great storyline and top-notch presentation that combines with a wealth of detail and an impressive level of complexity to make this into a hardcore RPG player’s dream. However, the game could have been so much more and feels unpolished in some areas. Despite its flaws, Perihelion: The Prophecy is a forgotten gem that deserves more recognition.
