Earok strikes back with Road Avenger ported for AMIGA CD32, a Laser Disc game from its original source known as “Road Blaster” or “Vehicular Homicide Hero”.
Road Avenger is a classic arcade game that was originally released in 1985 as a laserdisc-based arcade game.

Road Avenger on Amiga is a modern fan port of Data East’s 1985 LaserDisc arcade classic, originally titled Road Blaster in Japan and released internationally as Road Avenger or Road Prosecutor.
Released by ReImagine Games via PixelGlass around 2018, it supports OCS/ECS Amiga models (including CD32 with 2MB RAM), requiring a double-speed CD drive or HDD for full-motion video playback. AGA versions add enhanced HAM8 visuals and need quad-speed CD or more storage. It preserves arcade FMV over 30 minutes, with remastered audio, Sega-style intros, and options for stage select or full video watch mode.
All versions boast impressive HAM6 (upgradable to HAM8 on AGA) for smooth, high-quality video on era hardware, outperforming many contemporaries despite OCS limits. Sound includes enhanced effects and arcade-original music, making it a standout LaserDisc adaptation.
Players control a vigilante cop in a high-speed chase against thugs who murdered his wife, dodging traffic, trucks, and bikes while triggering explosions. Input quick joystick or button prompts (left/right steer, brake, turbo) to advance FMV sequences, with combos like brake-then-turn adding challenge across six difficulty levels.
Beyond Amiga, official ports hit MSX, Sharp X1, Sega CD, LaserActive, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn, cementing its cult status as an interactive racer-shooter.

Road Avenger is a classic arcade game that has been well-received on various platforms, including the Amiga.

The game features stunning graphics, enhanced sound effects, and fast-paced gameplay. The Amiga version is a faithful port of the arcade game, with well-drawn graphics and smooth animation.
It looks nicer than the Sega CD version in HAM video (converted from a LaserDisc rip) since IIRC the Sega CD can only play back video in 16 colours.

Story
Players assume the role of an angry cop on a wild ride as he pursues a gang of bikers who killed his wife. Players need to race through oncoming traffic, squeeze between trucks, trash motorcycles and steer through lots of explosions. The only thing needed are quick reflexes to follow the instructions on the screen (with an increasing difficulty) in order to keep the animation going.

The action is shown from a first-person view and fast-paced, while still maintaining smooth and detailed anime drawn graphics.
