Tekkaman: The Space Knight (宇宙の騎士テッカマン Uchū no Kishi Tekkaman) is an anime produced by Tatsunoko Productions in 1975.A short-lived English adaptation aired in the US in 1984.Two decades later, it was followed by the much more popular Tekkaman Blade, which was dubbed in the U.S. by Saban as Teknoman. The original series is currently streaming in North America via Yomiura Group’s planned Anime Sols video service, as of spring 2013. However, due to the failure to successfully crowd-fund it for DVD, the show will soon be removed from the site, with the possibility of considering a crowd-funding opportunity in the future.
In the twenty-first century, the Earth’s atmosphere has become so polluted
that the decay of the breathing air is irreversible, humanity got only 3 years of life.
Dr. Amachi manages to create “Pegas” and the “Tekset” system, designed to combat the aliens by augmenting a human with a certain wavelength into a Tekkaman, giving them enhanced strength abilities. Test pilots Joji Minami and Hiromi Amachi, along with Andro Uemeda and Mutan, two alien beings from the planet Sanno, rid the dying Earth from the threat of the “Waldaster” and continue to research the “Leap Flight Engine” to reach a new home for humanity.
The Space Development Center headed by Dr. Shukur Hammocks, and looking for a new planet within three years left,but the earth is facing another threat, an alien invasion .George Minami, lost his father during an attack and decides thanks to Dr. Amachi to use PEGAS a robot equipped with advanced processing chamber that allows a human being to become TEKKAMAN . Along with George, Hammocks , Hiromi takes off the BLUE EARTH in a desperate attempt to repel the alien fleet .
In the Arabian version of the popular series, Tekkaman is known as “Rajul Al-Tikka” [رجل التكة] an awkward translation which ironically fits with the original.
