Battle Squadron Remake
Battle Squadron Remake

Battle Squadron, released back in 1989 on the Amiga and the following year on the Sega Genesis, is a vertical scrolling shoot ‘em up. It’s pretty much a classic in gaming history, as it entered the gaming scene when graphics were just starting to get big and colorful – at least outside the arcade scene.

The game was ported to the iOS by Cope-com in July last year and recently made its way to the Android platform earlier this April.

The basic story is well, some commanders got kidnapped, and now you gotta go into the planet-sized enemy base thing and … this one’s a brain teaser … shoot everything that moves. That’s pretty much it, and you know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way. Classic shooters always focused on the gameplay first, while story telling was usually a bit of an afterthought. This was usually a very good thing.
