>AMEDIA Computer France made available capacitors kit for A500 and further models.
You can find the A500 and A500+ Kits here . Good stuff !
- Standard quality Capacitors batch for Amiga 500+ rev 8A.
N.B. : take good care of the desired capacitors kit according to your motherboard revision !
Amedia Computer can not be responsible for a mistake in the choosen kit !
>Since capacitors in original Amiga are now 20 and more years old they need to be replaced or in a worst scenario they may destroy your hardware (See Expansion Ram Capacitor leaked->HERE)
And despite this bitter truth , I ever thought that in old computers and in the specific in my commodore ones the chips had to be cooled , also capacitors benefit from cooling the whole case ,
further to remind that capacitors may also get destroyed by longer periods of inactivity .
However I found confirmations of my idea in some website like these :
>So be it , I cooled with aluminum heatsinks either C64 and Amiga :
>PICTURES UPDATES IN THE SECOND AMIGA :
>The C64 cooled :
>Oh well , the heatsinks look isn’t that great , you know an angle grinder is faster than a saw in some circumstance !
Anyway it worked , the computers work very fine , and turning them on for my generation
is the exact feeling that cars lovers feel when they turn on the engine in a Rolls Royce or in a Lamborghini !
>And don’t forget to get rid of the silver cardboard on the C64, at least on the upper side , it acts as insulator , blocking airflow which trapped heat generated by the SID, VIC, and PLA chips, a total ruin .
>Also the Commodore drive 1541 I and II could be cooled on its chips but I didn’t get the time to do it .
>Much of this potentially lifetime technology relies on the CBM Power supplies , linear transformer supplies make these computers safest than common modern machines !
So be ever sure that your supply is ever performing the right voltages to your machine!
>At last , adding some Fan for a good ventilation inside and to bring outside warm air is the final work for this kind of modding .
