The Amiga RocKnight RV300-C is a hardware antivirus device designed for the Commodore Amiga Computer.
However, it is considered a useless device because it only works when a secondary floppy drive, the external one, is connected to the Amiga.
The device blocks any attempt that comes from any program in memory to write over the floppy disk track system, similar to a Boot Virus.
It was probably designed for Commodore users who forget to protect floppy disks from writing when circumstances require caution.
However, there are many programs that run in memory that can protect disks from boot loader viruses. Although there are viruses like the Saddam one that don’t care about the track system and cannot be blocked by this very primitive hardware antivirus.
Despite its limitations, the Amiga RocKnight RV300-C is worth remembering for your Commodore Retro Mania Collection.
It is a curious piece of hardware that reflects the early days of computer security.
However, it is not a practical solution for modern-day antivirus protection.
